Welcome to Glenshiel

A century of history, perched above the city

Designed by Sir Herbert Baker in 1910, Glenshiel has stood on Westcliff’s rocky ridge for more than a century. Today, the historic House and gardens are home to St John South Africa, while continuing to welcome people through the gates for celebrations, cultural events and one of Johannesburg’s best-loved annual fairs.

Home to St John South Africa

A beautiful place with a greater purpose

Glenshiel is more than a historic home. It is the national headquarters of St John South Africa and plays an important role in supporting its work.

The events held here, the Fair and the people who visit Glenshiel all help St John continue its work in communities across South Africa, from eye care and first aid to wider community health initiatives.
